  • The Sour Fig is a common creeping succulent with large yellow flowers.

Sour fig, Suurvy, Ghaukum (Carpobrotus edulis): How do people use it?

  • Inside the fruit the sour pulp is slimy and contains shiny brown seeds. Bite off the base of the fruit and suck out the pulp.
  • Sour Figs make an excellent jam (konfyt) and are also used in oriental cooking.
