When Cliff was manager of Zandvlei Nature Reserve, he started an education centre serving the children of Steenberg, Lavender Hill and Muizenberg. He then went on to set up one of Cape Town’s newest nature reserves, the Blaauwberg Conservation Area. Cliff is now the Area Manager responsible for all the City’s nature reserves in the northern part of Cape Town. Cliff is one of South Africa’s best birders . He identified a bird in one of the City’s nature reserves that had never been seen on the African continent before. He has also discovered a plant species that had never been described before, and re-discovered a plant that people thought was extinct. Cliff’s love of nature has taken him to some exciting parts of the world, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo. |
