Despite all the development in Cape Town, the lowlands of the City are
still home to at least 1466 different indigenous plants. This is more
than the 1442 plant species found in the whole of the British Isles!
76 plant species are found only in the lowlands of the City, and 131
lowland plants are threatened with extinction.
Let’s all help to make sure that Cape Town remains the
record-breaking biodiversity capital of the world!
