Cape Town lies at the heart of the Fynbos Biome. The Mother City is famous all over the world for its people, places and plants.

The Table Mountain National Park conserves most of the Cape Peninsula mountain chain. But most of the people of Cape Town live in the lowlands on the Cape Flats, along the West Coast, in the Northern Suburbs and in the Helderberg Basin. In these lowland areas, a surprising number of unique plants and animals survive.

This website introduces you to the natural treasures of Cape Town’s lowlands. Read about these plants, animals and places – and what you can do to look after them.
